Returning to Beirut for 2017, the Summit will take place 9 - 10 May in the Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand, held under the patronage of Eng. Cesar Abi Khalil, Lebanon’s minister of energy and water, and in collaboration with the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA).

LIOG 2017 has earned the support and endorsement of a number of sponsors and supporters from both the private and public sectors including Strategic Partners; energy one, Platinum Partners; Schlumberger, BB Energy and Hypco plus many other industry leaders including, Bureau Veritas from France, Baker Hughes from the USA, United Safety and Lebanon’s Medco, all providing their support for the event.

Paul Gilbert, Director of Global Event Partners, co-organisers of the Summit explained; “Such international and local support does not only reflect the importance of LIOG 2017, but also illustrates a commitment to the success of Lebanese businesses, the economic growth of the country, and the development of its oil and gas sector.”

The significance of LIOG 2017 has also been reflected in its impressive number of participants, “We expect to host over 300 participants from nearly 200 local and international companies and organisations as sponsors, exhibitors, speakers or delegates,” explained Dory Renno, Managing Director of co-organisers Planners and Partners S.A.L.

In addition to high ranking officials and industry executives, the summit will host oil and gas exploration and production companies along with a wide range of service and logistics companies, including drilling and well management companies, pipelines manufacturers and suppliers, engineering, construction and maintenance companies, banks and law firms, as well as, health, safety and environment (HSE) consultants, training companies and recruitment specialists.

In addition to Minister Abi Khalil, who will inaugurate the event, the Summit will host over 30 leading speakers from the oil and gas industry and related sectors, who will provide an invaluable insight into the newly presented opportunities in the country's energy sector, the challenges and the road ahead for companies and investors in the field.

“A total of nine sessions have been strategically structured around three main themes to cover most of the topics of interest to the sector,” explained Gilbert. He added; We placed a special emphasis on factors that can make Lebanon a favorable destination for oil and gas investments, including the resilience in its vibrant economy and business arena, the existence of a highly educated multilingual workforce and the government’s renewed commitment to transparency through its intention to join the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI).”

LIOG 2017 coincides with the launch of the tender for Lebanon’s first five offshore blocks, creating the perfect platform for pre-qualified IOCs, investors, service companies, contractors and suppliers to gain insightful information, debate and participate in the development of Lebanon’s emerging oil and gas industry, where vast opportunities are being made available for professional and dedicated businesses.

LIOG 2017 will build on the momentum and huge success of its previous editions which attracted hundreds of delegates and dozens of high-calibre speakers from over 30 countries representing over 150 local and international companies and organisations, including major international oil companies (IOCs).
